Beard from a mummiform coffin, thought to be from tomb 139 at Beni Hasan. Carved from wood with a layer of plaster applied and painted blue. John Garstang, ‘The Burial Customs of Ancient Egypt’. London (1907). p. 217 "small piece of painted wood". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Damaged to one corner, wood is fragmenting (rot?) some splitting, surface dirt, remnants of pigmentation
