Coffin Fragment

Information
Painted fragment of a section from the front of the coffin lid. The mummy has the appearance of Osiris with a green face, bear, uraeus and holding a mace (Gardiner sign T3 "HD" meaning mace or white). The mummy is on a lion-legged bed (bier) beneath which are four canopic jars. On either side of the bed is a wolf on top of a standard. Written above the one on the right are two bread loaf signs and the horns of an ox sign, spelling out the name of the wolf-god Wepwawet (wp-wAwt) the 'opener of the ways'.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Gesso loss, incomplete, decorated surface crazed, surface dirt, adhesive stain.
