Information
Carved wooden ear from an anthropoid (human-shaped) coffin. The front is naturalistically formed but the back surface is a flat plane. Trace of pink paint on a gesso surface. On the back thick layer of organic substance. Ears on anthropoid coffins were carved separately and would have been pegged in place on the coffin during the manufacture process. Date uncertain, but probably after Dynasty 18.
CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, surface loss, pigment loss, surface dirt.
