48.25.26

Information

Two carved wooden ear, probably from an anthropoid (human-shaped) coffin. The front on each is naturalistically formed but the back surface is a flat plane. Ears on anthropoid coffins were carved separately and would have been pegged in place on the coffin during the manufacture process. Date uncertain, but probably after Dynasty 18. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Surface dirt, dry wood, chipped, surface loss, adhesive on reverse.
