Coffin Trough of Horwennefer

Wooden mummiform coffin trough of Hor-wen-nefer, a high-ranking priest at the sacred city of Abydos. The coffin trough is mostly a black surface except for the back of the wig which is blue. On the back are four vertical lines of inscription running the length of the trough, painted in black hieroglyphs of a yellow ground, each identical to the others. The text includes Hor-wen-nefers titles: Hsk-priest; Imy-is[t]-priest; Royal Acquaintance (rx-nsw); ‘He who embraces the wedjat-eye’ (hpt-wDAt); Chief of the Nurses of Horus the Child.
