Information

Iron Age coin found near Malpas, Cheshire: western gold stater, issued by EISV. Previous finds of Western coinage suggest that they circulated in Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties, so considerably further to the south than the present findspot. Western coins are traditionally associated with the Dobunni who inhabited the aforementioned area in the Roman period and perhaps before AD 43. Ancient British Coins reference 2078; Van Ardsell reference 1105.
