Commemorative Altar Figure of an Oba


This cast brass commemorative altar figure of an Oba, similar to, is also depicted wearing a type of beaded coral crown probably introduced during the reign of Oba Osemwende (1816-1848). Like, it also holds a ceremonial sword, or eben, and a proclamation staff, isevbere igho. This figure was originally one of four similar figures that the museum purchased from A. Hewer in October 1897.
