Information

This is a drawn copy of 'The Apparition of Saint Diego above his sepulchre', one of 16 frescoes painted for the Herrera Chapel of the former church of San Giacomo degli Spagnuoli, Rome. The frescoes were started by Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) and completed (before March 1606) by his collaborators including Sisto Badalocchio (1585-1647) and Giovanni Lanfranco (1582-1647). The drawing has previously been tentatively attributed to Francesco Allegrini (1587 - 1663).
