Cosmetic Dish



Cosmetic dish in the form of a duck. Hemispherical body with the long neck and head serving as a handle, with a projecting striated tail opposite. Base marked in ink with Danson's inventory number “No. 277”. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Worn, discoloured, surface dirt, slight abrasions. Danson Catalogue 2 no. 277. Purchased at Sotheby's 12-17 July 1911 (Hilton Price collection) Lot 179: "A Toilet Dish or Tray, of fine alabaster; shaped as a duck, the neck turned round to form the handle; length 7 3/4 in.; (4783) (PI.
