Oval palette for grinding cosmetics. Decorated with notched edge decoration on one side. Marked in ink 23/1908 and the previous Hastings Museum accession number Y152. Marked in blue chalk with an auction lot number: 92/11. Said to be from Naqada (de Rustafjael collection). Purchased at Sotheby's 1907, 09-10 December (Robert de Rustafjaell collection) lot 92/11 "Six Colour-grinding Plates of Palettes; each made from a long thin slab of dark-coloured schist; all of colongated diamond shape; five others of varied form; Nagada".
