Cosmetic Vessel

Carved stone jar of the type used for kohl eye makeup. Base marked in black ink: 29 /3217. Excavavated during the British Museum Expedition to Middle Egypt first and second years 1928 and 1929. Tomb no. 3217 was a Pan Grave Culture burial with other objects recorded as "16 gazelle, 4 ram, 1 ox-horn: painted frontal". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Worn, pitted, surface dirt.
