Carved Egyptian alabaster cosmetic container with four shallow feet. Small rectangular label with printed number in red "2422". Base marked in black ink "2422". Compare with W. M. F. Petrie, Stone and Metal Vases (London, 1937) no. 734 CONDITION NOTE (1998): Very cracked, crazed, surface chipped, discoloured, surface dirt, label adhered to surface. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor Collection) Lot 998/6: "A Kohl-Vase, on four shallow feet, 2 3/4 in. high; and three others, two being with Lids, heights varying from 1 1/4 to 2 1/4 in.".
