Carved stone jar of the type used for kohl eye makeup. Compare shape with W. M. F. Petrie, 'Stone and Metal Vases' (London, 1937) no. 730. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Rim chipped, surface loss, worn, surface dirt. Danson Catalogue 1 no.133 "10 kohl pots - 8 alabaster, 1 black stone & 1 slate. Found by Prof. Garstang at Abydos, 1906 - also 4 kohl sticks".
