Egyptian alabaster cosmetic container. Base marked in ink with the MacGregor collection no. 2382. Compare with W. M. F. Petrie, Stone and Metal Vases (London, 1937) no. 731. Auction label stuck to the side marked 998/6. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (MacGregor Collection) Lot 998/6: "A Kohl-Vase, on four shallow feet, 2 3/4 in. high; and three others, two being with Lids, heights varying from 1 1/4 to 2 1/4 in.". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Discoloured, scratched, labels adhered to surface.
