Information

Flat based tall shouldered jar with straight neck and everted rim. Carved from a hard limestone that is a pale brown-grey stone mottled with black specks. John Garstang notes this is from the 'Royal Tombs' at Abydos. Garstang was working at Abydos in 1900 for the Egyptian Research Account and Petrie was excavating the Royal Tombs in 1899-1900 so this may be when Garstang acquired the object from Petrie.
