Cosmetic Vessel
M11681
Information
Wooden kohl pot in the shape of a column with a palm-leaf capital. Down the front is a single vertical line of inscription, written in black with a yellow background. The owner was a male scribe named Hekanesy. The inscription reads: sS nswy-HqA mAa-xrw : The Scribe, Heqanesy, true of voice'. The base is in a deeper coloured wood, possibly cedar (modern repair?). There are traces of the cosmetic still at the bottom of the pot. Joseph Mayer acquired this from the Joseph Sams collection (no. 250), in 1850.
