County Class Cruiser in Dry Dock
WAG 1290
Information
HMS Devonshire was a heavy cruiser (a type of warship) in which Worsley served throughout 1942. The drawing may refer to her refitting in Colombo, Sri Lanka. On 25 May 1943, the drawing was purchased by the WAAC together with three other related drawings for ten guineas. The Censor blocked any reference to the ship's location, as the HMS Devonshire ferried Australian and New Zealand soldiers from Freemantle, Western Australia, to Aden, Yemen, to fight in the North African campaign.
