Cryptobranchus alleganiensis (Daudin, 1803)

Large salamander, head flattened with wrinkled, fleshy fold of skin on either side. Usually grey but occasionally yellowish-brown or black, often with vague, scattered irregular spots. Length up to 50 cm.
