Coin of Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II (Ptolemy the Benefactor); Born c.184 BC, died 116 BC; Became king of Egypt in 145 BC, although prior to this for a while he was a co-ruler with his brother Ptolemy VI and sister Cleopatra II Mint: Alexandria Denomination: Obverse: bearded head of Herakles in lion skin right, dotted border. Reverse:an eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt, dotted border around. There is no obverse Inscription, however the reverse inscription reads: ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙ[ΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ]
