Customs declaration

Customs declaration relating to a consignment of food sent to ship's engineer Arthur Owen from his wife Sydney Owen. Arthur Owen worked on board the SS Zealand of the Donald Currie Line. Owen's ship was in Hamburg harbour at the outbreak of the First World War and the crew were interned at Ruhleben civilian prison camp near Berlin. He died of tuberculoses in 1916 and his effects were returned to his wife.
