Cylinder Seal (facsimile)

Facsimile of a wooden cylinder seal with the name Senka. Along with the cast of the cylinder is a plaster impression of the inscription. A letter dated 3 August 1965 from Barry Kemp describes the cylinder seal as being found by John Garstang at Abydos in 1908. Original was in the ownership of William MacGregor and sold in 1922. This cast belonged to the University of Liverpool (perhaps specifically to Professor Percy Newberry) and was displayed in the museum before the Second World War (see Handbook and Guide, 1930, p. 30) and appears in a list of loans from the University of Liverpool dated 30 January 1928.
