Four pieces of fruit from the date palm, Phoenix dactylifera.
Collected at the pyramid town of Lahun by W. M. Flinders Petrie, 1889-90. Kept within a glass lidded cardboard box. Annotation in black in on a piece of paper kept inside the tube by Percy Newberry: "Two fruits of the date-palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) Kahun. XII dynasty. P.E.N. 1889".
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Some damage to surface, surface dirt, cracked surface. Dimensions are for the container.
