Information

In Roman myth the moon goddess, Diana, fell in love with a beautiful young shepherd called Endymion. In this image, Endymion lies asleep, reclining against a tree. Floating above him is the ghostly and pale figure of Diana, bending down towards him. The hazy atmosphere suggests that this is a vision in Endymion’s dream.
