Handwritten drafts of a cable and Special Letter from White Star Line Liverpool to New York regarding the Coal Situation as regards Olympic and Titanic, 28 March 1912. Cable initialled ABC (AB Cauty, Asst Manager) , letter initialled HC (Henry Concanon, Asst General Manager), ABC (Cauty). Letter to be copied to Ston (Southampton), SE, Capt Smith, Haddock, ?SC & ? HC. Cable states that owing to the coal position (UK Strike) Olympic and Titanic will sail at twenty knots each way pro tem. Special Letter states that due to poor coal supply, Olympic and Titanic must be the principal consideration and that it may be necessary to cancel sailings by the Oceanic. Copies of letter to captains Smith and Haddock so that the consumption can be watched and all to work together 'to ensure the continuous running of these steamers.'
