Information
Farthing studied at St Martin's School of Art (1968 - 1973) and at the Royal College of Art (1973 - 1976). After his training, he spent a year at the British School in Rome as an Abbey Major scholar. His style is influenced by Pop Art but also by his study of Cubism, which is manifested in his paintings as a student, such as 'Louis XV Rigaud' in the Walker Art Gallery collection. He won several prizes at the John Moores Painting Prize over the years.
