Dress sword

LL 2274

Information

A dress sword made from steel with a leather scabbard. Decorated around the handle with cut steel beads and mounted with blue jasper medallions. The blue jasper medallions are decorated with white jasper sprigging. Wedgwood was friends with the Birmingham industrialist Matthew Boulton who was well known for his metalwork. It is very likely that this sword was made at Boulton's Soho manufactory.
