Ear Ornament
1977.108.10b
Information
One of a pair of penannular earrings made from deep blue glass with light blue and yellow twisted trail on the perimeter of the hoop, and two vertical loops at either end. The earring was presumably worn by passing a metal wire hoop through both vertical loops and through a hole in the earlobe. Much of the decorative trailing on the perimeter has broken off.
Found with several pairs of earrings, finger rings, amulets, beads, and a large group of vessels in an undisturbed vaulted-chamber of a mid-Eighteenth Dynasty tomb containing eight burials (chamber 941 in Tomb Group 941-949 A’09).
