Penannular earring with a narrow opening. The identification of this type of ring is still uncertain but they were probably worn as ear or hair ornaments. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 24659: Quantity of broken glass rings of various colours. In box 9" x 4". Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 31 July 1923 (Mrs Berens Sale) Lot 29: "Fourty others, many finely striated or inlaid; and a quantity of Glass rings, broken".
