One part of a boss ear stud, finely carved from grey coloured Egyptian alabaster. Hemispherical form, backed with hole to fit over the point on the other element (if this is an ear stud and not a furniture knob). CONDITION NOTE 1998: Worn, surrface dirt. Gatty Slip (1873): Seven alabaster studs in shape of mushrooms, used for ear ornaments - Four have only the circular tops. Catalogue Card (1920): Four ear-plugs and parts of three more.
