Ear Ornament

Pair of earrings constructed of sheet gold and wire. The wire is coiled in a tight spiral to cover the sheet-gold, hollow tubular hoop of the earring, terminating in a lion’s head of sheet gold: the opposite end has a much smaller terminal head of a lioness. The features of the felines are worked in repoussé for mane, large round eyes, ears, wrinkled muzzle and tongue; filigree tongues and ivy-band on hoop just below larger lion-head.
