One part of a boss ear stud, finely carved from Egyptian alabaster. Hemispherical form, backed with a hollow shaft to fit around the point on the other element.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete, worn, surface dirt, discolouration.
Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 6 July 1922 (Rev. William MacGregor collection) Lot 1798: "A small Box of Portions of Tiles, originally lining a chamber in the Step Pyramid at Sakkara, taken to Berlin by Lepsius and presented to Mr MacGregor by the Berlin Museum, engraved in Maspero's "Egyptian Art and Archaeology"; also a quantity of Fragments in Silver, Pottery, Wood Stone and Earthenware, the objects include a large bronze Bucket".
