Emperor Charles V

The subject, Charles V (1500 - 1558), was Holy Roman Emperor, King of Spain and ruler of the Spanish Empire, Archduke of Austria, and ruler of the Habsburg Netherlands. This copy is probably derived from a bust in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna. Several versions of this bust are known to have been made. The orginal bust was cast in 1549.
