This Association was formed in 1890 by employers of all types of port labour in response to the increasing disturbance to shipping caused by the dockers' and seamen's unions. It negotiated with the unions and from 1896 worked in close association with the Shipping Federation. By 1913, it had declined from fifty to thirteen members and was largely supplanted by the newly formed Employers' Association of the Port of Liverpool.
