The Fairy Tale

The costume in this watercolour suggests a date between about 1885 and 1890. A letter from the British publisher Vicars Brothers dated 28th March 1935 said: "This is a very late drawing when the artist was painting in garish colours, and without the minute finish which one expects from him."
