WAG 1696
Information
This watercolour painting features two costume designs by George W. Harris (1978-1929) of the characters 'Fakir' and 'the Young Man' for an unknown play. Harris was born in Warwickshire but spent the majority of his life living and working as an artist in Liverpool. His father was a Theatre Manager by trade and his own career was largely based in a theatre setting. Harris worked closely with the founder of the Liverpool Repertory Theatre, Basil Dean (1888-1978), producing many costume and set designs for Dean's plays.
