Cartonnage head from a mummified falcon. Details painted in white, pink and black.
Included in the Ancient Egyptian Animal Bio Bank Project (2016) for radiographic analysis (X-ray and CT scanning), specimen no.AEABB738: "Hollow mask depicting the face of a falcon which would once have been applied as an accoutrement to a falcon mummy. The scan shows the radio-dense outer layer formed from plaster over a layer of linen. Linen remnants are visible inside the mask."
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Stained, textiles fraying, surface dirt.
