False-Door Drum

Block of stone rounded: chipped at both ends. Inscription deeply incised. 6th or 7th Dynasty. Inscription in one horizontal line, with a hand-copy made by Percy Newberry in 1910 on the catalogue card. Described in 1910 as being of good technique; perfect preservation but for the ends of the drum which are chipped. The object is unlocated and presumed destroyed in the Second World War when the Museum was destroyed by a fire-bomb.
