This is one of a group of drawings by British artist and book illustrator Edward Francis Burney, depicting scenes from Greek and Roman history and mythology. This drawing shows the procession at Cerealia - a festival that celebrates the Roman goddess of grain and agriculture, Ceres (equivalent of the Greek goddess Demeter).
