A large quantity of fruit from the Sycomore fig (Ficus sycomorus). In Joseph Mayer's 1852 catalogue he notes the food and fruit in case 7 were "taken from the tombs at Thebes", and so is most likely part of an offering left in a tomb as a food for the spirit of the deceased. One 'infested' fruit is within a glass tube. Kept within a glass topped box (pre 1941) 37 mm x 150 mm x 230 mm. Six separated for display and their number remains as M11907. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Incomplete or broken, one with old infestation, cracked, surface dirt. Assumed lost in the Second World War but located in May 2016.
