Figure of a Cobra (Uraeus)

Information
One of nine wooden cobra heads with sun discs (uraei) from a frieze. Well carved with yellow paint, blue, red and green markings. The sun discs are painted yellow. Collected by Rev. William Frankland Hood on one of his visits to Egypt between 1851 - 1861.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no.30982: Nine Uraei with solar discs, in painted and carved wood. 6" long.; Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 11 November 1924 (Hood collection), Lot 151/15: "Five profile Figures of Anubis; Isis protecting Osiris; Mut; two Worshippers, all in wood, about 7 in. height, apparently from a shrine; nine Uraei, in painted wood; and a pendant Uraeus wearing the red crown."
