Figure of a Falcon and a Scarab (Forgery)

Carved basalt figure of a falcon standing on a scarab. Previously thought to be Roman in date but is very likely to be a modern piece of work. Purchased at Stevens's Auction House Ltd., London, lot 100 13 November 1934. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Fresh abrasions/chalk, worn, surface dirt.
