Figure of Shou Lao

Figure of Shou Lao, god of long life, seated on a deer and holding in his left hand a ju-i (ruyi ''as-you-wish'') sceptre. At his feet are a crane and a tortoise. Oblong octagonal base with moulded sides. Porcelain with colour glazes. The robes are turquoise, and deer is white, mottled with yellow. The base is dark violet-blue and turquoise. The head, with high protuberant forehead, and the flesh parts are in unglazed biscuit. The crane and tortoise are in biscuit touched with dark blue. The base is unglazed at the back and beneath, and is burnt reddish brown.
