Figure of a Woman on a Bed

Pottery image of a woman lying on a bed. Painted yellow, red and blue. Figures such as this one were used as votive offerings in temples or as objects of worship in private homes, and expressed the desire for children and perhaps magically ensured rapid conception. Marked on the back in pencil "pl. VII 22" a reference to the 1906 auction catalogue.
