Information

This watercolour painting is a costume design by George W. Harris (1978-1929) of a female figure in a red dress for an unknown play. Harris was born in Warwickshire but spent the majority of his life living and working as an artist in Liverpool. His father was a Theatre Manager by trade and his own career was largely based in a theatre setting. Harris worked closely with the founder of the Liverpool Repertory Theatre, Basil Dean (1888-1978), producing many costume and set designs for Dean's plays.
