Finger Ring

Red carnelian scarab set in modern thin, pale gold suspension ring with swinging bezel. Chipped on lower left side of engraved scene. Tall scarab with simple winglets, double border. Engraved scene in orlo etrusco (characteristic Etruscan-style hatched or rope-pattern border), a warrior striding with bent knees to left. He is nude, with helmet, shield and spear, a sword hangs against the background before him. He holds the round shield in front of him with his left (back) hand, his right arm cradles an upright spear behind his back. The warrior has a heavy body with exaggerated chest muscles.
