Finger ring with oval bezel. Inscribed with the throne name of King Amenhotep III, Nebmaatra ('the possessor of the Maat of Ra'). Rich purple colour. Shank broken with a part missing. Material is either very glassy Egyptian faience or glass. Purchased for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at Sotheby's, London, 16 December 1924 (Bethell collection), Lot 358; previously in the Tyssen-Amherst collection, sold at Sotheby's, London, 17 June 1921 as part of a group of faience ring fragments from Petrie's 1891-92 excavations at Tell el-Amarna (lots 883-886).
