Finger Ring

Finger ring with thin, hollow hoop ring and large, gilt silver cartouche with impressed intaglio within a raised, beaded border, within which is a scene of a bird and sphinx. Identified by Boardman as Boardman Type B III 3. The cartouche scene depicts a couchant sphinx with long body and up-curved tail facing left, behind it, a slim water-bird with long neck like a heron, also facing left.
