Finger Ring
M11997
Information
Silver finger ring with oval bezel on a thin section shank, which is mended. The bezel is inscribed with hieroglyphs giving the name and title of the owner, probably 'Anatef sa priest of Ptah'. In 1879 Charles Gatty translated it as "Together with his sun". There is a hand-copy of the inscription made by Professor Percy Newberry on the catalogue card. Silver is dulled. Described in a 1931 exhibition as being electrum.
