Information

Green faience ring bezel bearing, in raised relief, a representation of Heh, "god of millions of years". Broken in two and mended. There is a joining broken fragment from the lower part of bezel with small part of the hoop preserved (9 mm). The rest of the hoop is missing. Purchased for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at Sotheby's, London, 16 December 1924 (Bethell collection), Lot 358; previously in the Tyssen-Amherst collection, sold at Sotheby's, London, 17 June 1921 as part of a group of faience ring fragments from Petrie's 1891-92 excavations at Tell el-Amarna (lots 883-886).
