Finger Ring

Dark blue faience ring bezel bearing, in openwork decoration, a representation of a standing figure. Only one half. Hoop missing. Trace of yellow faience where hoop once joined bezel at the back. Purchased for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at Sotheby's, London, 16 December 1924 (Bethell collection), Lot 358; previously in the Tyssen-Amherst collection, sold at Sotheby's, London, 17 June 1921 as part of a group of faience ring fragments from Petrie's 1891-92 excavations at Tell el-Amarna (lots 883-886).
